need good way to define/load default table contents and/or testing table contents

Reported by Joshua Paine | February 9th, 2009 @ 12:11 PM | in 0.30

some tables will have only certain specific rows according to application design. some need to be prefilled with live or testing data to be useful. there should be an easy way to do these things.

    • Milestone cleared.
    • State changed from “new” to “open”

Leaving this bug open and moving to next milestone. Do you think this is a function in Tools? What format(s) are most useful? CSV, SQL?

One addition to Tools which is not a focus in the next release but will be thereafter is a CSV import tool/wizard. These should be related and use similar importing mechanisms.

I'm not sure. When I wrote this bug, I was still trying to use Tools for setting up my app. Eventually I decided I needed to be able to see more of my data structures at once and change things more than Tools would let me do, so I built my "tables" by writing the classes by hand.

So I'm not sure this is a Tools thing, but I'd like to see some good way of defining the application data basics. Maybe with CSV.

    • Milestone set to 0.30

Moving to 0.30 release whose focus is improving Models and models support. Has intersection with the focus of the following release which is a redesign (and pluggable) of the Tools interface.
